朱金池 (Chin-Chih Chu)
Abstract
Compassion and wisdom are the fundamental values pursued by Buddhism, as well as important practices for spiritual environmental protection. This article first explores the values and connotations of the dual practice of compassion and wisdom in Buddhism, including the values of self-interest and altruism, as well as the values of complementing each other and paying attention to each other. Secondly, this article discusses the methods of practice of Buddhist compassion and wisdom, including self-awareness and self-affirmation based on self-interest, self-growth based on altruism, and final self-dissolution based on both self-interest and altruism. These practices can be divided into the following levels: the dual practice of blessing and wisdom at the level of Buddhists, and the dual practice of compassion and wisdom at the level of Bodhisattvas and Buddhas. Finally, this article explains how to practice spiritual environmental protection, purify the hearts of individuals and society, and achieve the ideal goal of building a pure land on earth.
