Article Solicitation

  1. The Dharma Drum Journal of Buddhist Studies invites scholars to submit academic manuscripts relating to Buddhism.
  2. The Journal is published semiannually in June and December. The deadlines for submissions are January 1 and July 1.
  3. Contributors have to be once teachers or current teachers in universities/colleges at home and abroad, and scholars at research institutes, or Ph.D. Candidate (please provide the certificate of enrollment when contributing articles).
  4. The Journal is a peer-reviewed journal and reserves the right to edit manuscripts for content and style.
  5. Contributions are advised to be made in the languages of Chinese, Japanese, and English. 10,000 to 30,000 words are ideal for those in Chinese and Japanese; 8,000 to 15,000 words are ideal for those in English. Please include the following: article title, a 500-word abstract, five keywords, contents and references. Please use consecutively numbered footnotes at the bottom of each page. For English manuscripts, please double-space. The fonts in all submitted files should be Unicode compatible.
  6. When sending your manuscripts, please include Submission Information Form and Copyright License Agreement (please download it at, and kindly send to us your electronic files (both Word and PDF) or CDs in which your articles appear.
  7. The Journal does not accept manuscripts which have been published previously. Upon publication, each author will receive two complimentary copies of the Journal in which the articles appears, and 20 offprints of the article. The Journal does not pay royalties.
  8. Contributors should guarantee that the publishing and the granting of the copyright of the current writings does not violate the Copyright Law, Publication Law, or other related laws and decrees. In case contributors violate the previous terms and cause legal conflicts, the responsibility is imposed on contributors completely, not the Journal.
  9. For the purposes of publication, the journal is required to collect the personal names of the contributors, titles, institutional affiliations, contact addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, etc., in order to manage the journal and maintain necessary contact during the publication period. The contributors may request to review, supplement, and correct the information, request a copy, request to stop collecting, processing, or utilizing the information, and request the deletion of personal data.
  10. If the articles being accepted by the Journal, the author hereby grants a non-exclusive license to the Journal to:
    (1) Publish the articles by paper or digital format.
    (2) Digital archive, reproduce, transmit publicly by Internet, or authorize users to download, print, browse, or conduct other sales or service providing of database.
    (3) Grant National Central Library or other database providers a sublicense to collect the articles, for the purpose of service providing, in its database.
    (4) Change the format of the articles to meet the system requirement of each database.
  11. Domestic and overseas organizations are welcome to establish  academic periodical exchanges.
